Thinking how? If you don’t let the dryer venting to the outside air, the unvented dryer will soon fill up the house with all kinds of dangerous fibers which will not only make the heck of a mess over time but also cause respiratory and breathing problems for the residents. Moreover, the hot and moist air that comes out from the cloth dryer can contain harmful gasses like carbon monoxide. Gasses like this are extremely harmful for any living being. These are the reasons why venting is a must and all of us should make sure that the dryer can be properly vented to the outside.
Installing an indoor dyer vent is quite easy. If you have not done it before you can do it by following some simple steps. All you need to do is to measure accurately and use a power drill or jig saw to install your own vent dryer. For most dryer the moist air is always vented through an exterior wall vent. However, if you want to move the indoor dryer to basement or to a room where you don’t have the option of venting the hot air into the outside air, you need to install a vent opening in the wall. With some tools and using some steps you can easily install the indoor dryer vent.
For installing the indoor dryer vent you will need to have the a measuring tape, stud finder, hole saw, pencil or marker, outdoor caulk, drill machine, 1/2 inch masonry drill bit and 1/2 inch wood drill bit. After getting ready with all these items you can start the process of installing the vent.
First of all, you will need to locate the perfect position for the vent hole. Find out a place on the wall surface that is close to the inside location of the dryer. Make sure the drilling through the wall won’t cause damage to electrical lines, conduit and plumbing or natural gas pipe lines. Now select a right place and mark it with your pencil.
Now, you can test the hole location. You can go inside the room and can check whether there is any obstruction from inside or not. If everything’s fine, you can drill a small pilot hole in the inside wall. Check whether everything is okay. Now, it’s time to cut the hole.
Take the drill machine and make sure the drill is long enough to go through the interior and the exterior wall surface. Now, drill through the wall. Make sure the hole is large enough to enter the dryer vent hose. If the exterior wall of your home is aluminum or masonry siding, you will have to use a masonry bit to make the first hole. Then to chip away the brick inside the larger circle you will have to use a cold chisel. Make sure the hole is not ¼ inches larger than the vent hose.
Now it’s time to attach the vent housing. Insert the vent housing into the hole at the exterior wall and use the vent kit instrument to mount the vent housing. When you have placed it tightly into the hole, use your finger to make sure the vent flap will open freely once there is the pressure from the dryer.
Now, it’s time to install the hardware and the venting pipe into the inside wall. Connect the hose and the vent housing to the cloth dryer and place the hose into the dryer vent.
